What is mineral makeup?

Mineral makeup is made up of minerals such as iron oxides, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. They are ground, milled or broken into very tiny particles to create the makeup. Traditional makeup uses preservatives like parabens, chemical dyes and fragrances, while mineral makeup leaves these harmful ingredients out.

Does it really benefit my skin?

Mineral makeup is not a miracle replacement for anti-aging serums, moisturizer and spot cream, but it does have skincare benefits. It is often recommended for folks with sensitive skin, as it has fewer potential irritants and can be soothing to irritated skin. Some cosmetic surgeons will only let their patients use mineral makeup after surgery, due to its lack of facial irritants. Due to its manufacturing, the pigments and foundations usually contain fewer ingredients, and as a result, may be less likely to aggravate sensitive skin.

Help for acne and spots…

Some acne sufferers, as well as people who are prone to spot breakouts, say mineral makeup has improved their overall skin condition. These makeup lines contain no oils, fragrance or preservatives, all of which can cause irritation or aggravate acne prone skin. It does not clog pores or cause breakouts and blackheads.

Sun protection benefits…

A couple of the main ingredients in mineral makeup – titanium dioxide and zinc oxide – are both natural sun blocks. Because of this, the liquid and powder foundations do have a naturally occurring degree of sun protection. However, it’s always recommended to put sunscreen on if you are going to be outside (even on cloudy days) to protect your skin from the aging effects of the sun.

How do you look?

Women don’t buy these products simply because they’re good for their skin. The finished look matters too! The ultra-fine particles that give this makeup its signature luster also give your face a lovely glow, resulting in a healthy, youthful appearance. The fine, pure pigments blend easily on the skin, providing a cover that is both sheer and flawless. Think airbrushing, but in real life! Mineral makeup offers an organic, healthy glow, perfect for teenage to mature skin.
